A quick spring tour around the Olympic Peninsula
The weather looked to be fine, and the winter has been long, so I took a little ’round the Peninsula motorcycle ride to celebrate. Map.
I took a few photographs along the way, but spent most of the time just enjoying the ride. Read More…
Hurricane Ridge ride before winter hits
Today, I took a little ride to Hurricane Ridge in Olympic National Park. It was only 260 miles round trip, but it took all day because I kept stopping…to get warm…to take pictures…to stretch my legs…and just to pause in enjoyment of the journey, instead of being focused only on reaching Hurricane Ridge.
I had not visited Hurricane Ridge since my teen years. My memory of the grandeur of the landscape had faded over the years, so it was a delight to renew my acquaintance with these views.
Fall ride along Hood Canal and through the old neighborhood
The weather is getting colder, and the days shorter. I decide to go for a motorcycle ride to clear my head before a week that promises to be full of challenges. My excuse to go is a benefit barbecue for an injured rider.
My first time working a race corner won’t be the last
Have you ever seen high-speed motorcycle racing, the kind where it looks like the riders seem to be touching their knee or elbow to the ground as they rocket around corners? Wouldn’t it be interesting to see that kind of racing up close, like 35 feet away?
I got that chance last weekend, and took it. It won’t be the last time! I was astounded and awed by the courage and control displayed by the riders. With a dry track, they rocketed around the circuit. When the track became slick with rain, these warriors kept charging forward.
