Adventure touring on a scooter: priceless
With a few days of vacation left, and great weather promised by the soothsayers on TV, I loaded up the Burgman 650 scooter and headed toward Mt. Rainier, Palouse Falls, and Mt. Adams. I found a campground to remember, and one to forget. The scooter is now a pseudo dual-sport motorcycle, after successfully navigating several miles of Forest Service gravel road!
I have been to the mountain and found Paradise
A group ride was announced on PNWriders to Mt. Rainier, and since I hadn’t been there for many years, I decided it was time.
Paradise was crowded, but I managed to find a quiet spot off the road where I could eat my lunch and admire the mountain.
I rode to honor, in my own way, some folks who recently passed, friends and associates struggling with health issues, and friends experiencing career challenges.
San Juans wonderland
Five days of squirting through narrow passages in a small sailboat, flying all sail, motoring against contrary currents, having a sailing partner and a buddy boat, porpoises, eagles, great geology and landforms, and challenging currents — the marvels of the San Juan Islands translated into a great August boating trip.
