Allyn to Kingston
A last blast of summer sun in September brought crystal clear skies, some sailing, navigating in fog, with harbor porpoises and a submarine crossing Whisper’s bow. Three short videos are embedded in the story so you can experience some of the journey with me.
Brownsville to Blake Island
Blake Island on a buoy, a friendly otter, more porpoises than I’ve seen before off Bainbridge Island, and shopping in Poulsbo: a great, long weekend. Because of contrary wind and currents, we motored most of this trip, but at every turn we were presented with postcard views of middle Puget Sound. Transiting waterbodies like Rich Passage and Agate Passage is always interesting. With a deli, restrooms, launch ramp, free parking, overnight moorage, and proximity to many great destinations, we like Brownsville.
Hood Canal to Olympia
My annual week of solo sailing was a journey of discovery as I traveled from the south end of Hood Canal to Olympia. As you’ll discover in this narrative, wind opposed me almost the entire trip, so much of this 140-nautical-mile journey was powered by motor, not wind.
Gig Harbor and points north
The month of May brought us rain, wind and sunshine, all the ingredients for a great week on the water. We launched Whisper at Gig Harbor, and I soloed on the boat to Camp Sealth, Blake Island, Poulsbo, Elliott Bay and Port Orchard.
